The road to $500,000 is past halfway, as the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Championship Series starts the second half of the season in the Commonwealth of Virginia on Tuesday night. Richmond Raceway hosts the eighth race of the Championship Series season, complete with the Short Track Heat Racing format offering more points for those looking to make the Playoffs on points. A win is also on the table, the ticket that takes a driver directly to the Playoffs if they reside inside the top-20.
Last season, Steven Wilson scored his third win of the year at The Action Track. This year, Wilson again enters with two wins, seeking a third. Can he reclaim the No. 1 seed from Bobby Zalenski, who already claimed his third win of the season last week at Nashville?

PREVIOUS RACE: BOBBY ZALENSKI CAPITALIZES FOR 21ST CAREER WIN AT NASHVILLE
For most of the scheduled laps at Nashville Superspeedway last week, it looked as though there were two winning possibilities on the table, and both were covered by the two RFK Racing rookies in the field. Up front, Dylan Basen was the fastest driver on track, passing former champion Casey Kirwan for the lead around Lap 37, reportedly having enough gas to make it to the end. On the other strategy, Shawn Conklin pitted exactly where he could maximize his pace, leading the way of the drivers sure to make it if the fuel save wasn’t the right way to go about it.
A caution late in the going changed all of that. Parker White, winner at Indianapolis, stayed out, hoping his tires would hold up against those with fresher virtual rubber. Conklin jumped ahead of Basen, who decided to pit under caution. Then there was Bobby Zalenski, who was on Conklin’s strategy, but just a bit further back. Through a number of restarts that ultimately led to a third and final eNASCAR Overtime, Zalenski pounced on both White and Conklin for the lead. Kirwan recovered back to snipe second from Conklin, while Basen’s day wound up in the trash after getting collected in a late race restart crash.
Zalenski’s win was the 21st of his career, breaking a tie with Nick Ottinger for second on the all-time winners list.
LAST YEAR: STEVEN WILSON WON THIS ONE TOO
Many of these previews include a reminder of what happened the last time the series visited the track. As it has been for many of the races in the 2026 Championship Series season, it’s a reminder of how dominant of a season that Steven Wilson had. When Richmond fell on the 2026 schedule as the fourth race of the season, Wilson already had two wins, and potentially would have gone three-for-three had he not had internet issues at Las Vegas in Round 2.
With Heat racing on the table, Wilson’s qualifying efforts weren’t as good as they could have been, but they were enough to put him into position late in the Feature to take control from Zack Novak and claim his third win of the year.
SHORT TRACK RACE FORMAT
Once again in 2026, Richmond’s festivities will include a pair of heat races to set the lineup for the main event. First, drivers will qualify as normal, but it will matter if you qualify in an odd or even position. Two 25-lap heats are scheduled with up to 20 drivers taking part in each, with the odd-number positioned drivers racing in the first and the evens in the second.
The top-10 finishers in each heat will get the equivalent of what NASCAR does for stage points, where the winner gets 10 points and 10th place gets one. The results also determine how the drivers line up in the feature, with Heat 1 determining the inside row and Heat 2 determining the outside.
The main race will be 70 laps in distance. A driver could collect up to 50 points tonight as opposed to the normal maximum of 40 points.
STANDINGS ENTERING RICHMOND
There are a number of points standings to keep an eye on this season besides the Driver’s Standings. There will also be Team Standings to keep track of, where the two drivers of each official team will earn points towards the Team Championship at the end of the season.
Every three races, there will be a three-race mini-championship, dubbed Segments, where the driver with the most points in that stretch will earn five additional Playoff Points. Finally, there are nine rookies competing this season, but only one can be the Rookie of the Year.

RICHMOND RACEWAY TRACK FACTS
Is Richmond Raceway America’s longest short-track, or its shortest superspeedway? Either way you look at it, Richmond embodies the characteristics of both and is a rocket-fast challenge to every driver who competes on the three-quarter-mile oval. Racers from NASCAR, IndyCar and USAC have found that Richmond requires both power and handling. To win here, you’ve got to have it all.
Auto Racing in Richmond launched in 1946 at the Atlantic Rural Expedition’s 1/2 mile dirt track as part of the AAA Championship Car season, which was the first car racing following World War II. Four track configurations later, today’s Richmond Raceway features 55,000 grandstand and premium seats, a new $30,000,000 infield which will open in Fall 2018, and the only NASCAR venue where all of the racing action is held under the lights.
NEXT RACE: REGULAR SEASON, SEGMENT 3 CONCLUDE AT DAYTONA
Following Richmond, the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Championship Series will race next at Daytona International Speedway in two weeks time to wrap up the 2026 Regular Season. Daytona will be the final place where a driver inside the top-20 in the standings can secure a place in the 2026 eNASCAR Playoffs. Win and you’re in, or at least be one of the top drivers without a win on points as the eNASCAR Playoff field takes 10.
Last season, Steven Wilson opened the season with his first Daytona win in the series. Can Wilson steal the final win condition to get into the fight for the championship, or will someone else turn their season around and make the 2026 eNASCAR Playoffs?
