New Short Track Restart Rule to Debut at Iowa Speedway

For the upcoming event at Iowa Speedway, the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series will be implementing a new restart procedure. This will apply exclusively to the Heat/Feature format event at Iowa.

The new procedure aims to maximize racing time and minimize periods under caution.  Heat races will still remain caution free.

The rule is as follows:

Restart Procedure for Short Track Races with Heat Format –

  • Initial Start: Begin with a double-file restart.
  • First Lap Caution: If a caution occurs within the first lap after a restart(Not the initial start), switch to a single-file restart immediately.
  • Caution-Free Laps: Once drivers complete 5 consecutive laps without a caution after a restart, the restart type will revert to double-file.
  • Repeat Process: Continue this process for the remainder of the event
  • Green-White-Checkered: All GWC restarts will be double file
