Wide World of Esports: Denny delivers, LaJoie vs. Landon, the Replacements return

So, a lot happened this week in the wide world of esports, if you hadn’t noticed.

Denny delivers first-ever eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series win

The first-ever iRacing event featuring exclusively NASCAR stars on live national television was a memorable one. Longtime sim-racing enthusiasts Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. battled for the win, with Hamlin prevailing.

Analysis: filling the void

Was it a good race? Uh, yeah.

And, thanks to Hamlin and Kevin Harvick, there’s a whole lot of good coming out of the race.

Oh, and it’s all happening again this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

The iRacing crew’s getting ready.

LaJoie vs. Landon

NASCAR Cup Series driver Corey LaJoie was notably absent from Sunday’s festivities. He says that’s because there’s a newborn in the house. Valid excuse, right?

Landon Cassill, who raced to a 12th-place finish Sunday, says no.

Everybody’s in!

It seems like everybody’s jumping on the sim-racing bandwagon in recent weeks, including some brand-new converts. You love to see it.

In the world of NASCAR Heat, all eyes were on the NASCAR Heat 10K over the weekend, an exhibition race with a five-figure prize.

Oh, and two-time Xfinity Series champ Tyler Reddick was there, along with Kaz Grala. Pretty sure the "K" in 10K stood for "Kaz."

OK, not really — The K is for the thousands, as in 10 of them in total prize money. Racers itsyourbrochase6 and wowTHATSgarbage took home two grand each. Not bad for an afternoon playing games!

The next eNASCAR Heat Pro League preseason race takes place at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Replacements Series set to begin

Following the success of the recent Replacements 100 event on iRacing, NASCAR spotters Kevin Hamlin and TJ Majors have assembled a Tuesday-night racing series to continue the momentum — with a few new faces joining the fray.
