Power Rankings: PEAK Series heads to Wine Country

The eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series makes its ninth stop of the season at Sonoma Raceway — on a new track layout — Tuesday, June 11 (9 p.m. ET, Bobby Zalenski is the defending race winner.

Logan Clampitt (No. 99, Burton Kligerman Esports)

Rank: 12 (NR)

After what looked like an impossible struggle to reach the playoffs, Logan Clampitt continues his march toward the top eight, 17 points shy of the cutoff despite missing the season opener. Expect the trend to continue — Clampitt’s two races at Sonoma give him an average finish of 10th.

Jake Nichols (No. 20, Joe Gibbs Racing)

Rank: 11 ()

Incredibly, eight races into the season, Jake Nichols holds onto the final spot in the playoffs despite scoring no top 10s all year. We’ll keep him ranked just outside our top 10 just to keep up the trend.

Jarl Teien (No. 66, G2 Esports)

Rank: 10 (NR)

Despite a quiet 2019 season, expect a strong run at Sonoma from G2 Esports racer Jarl Teien from Norway. Teien finished runner-up to Bobby Zalenski last year and certainly knows his way around a road course.

Jimmy Mullis (No. 46, Richmond Raceway Esports)

Rank: 9 (-3)

Richmond Raceway Esports driver Jimmy Mullis scored top-10 finishes in his two starts at Sonoma, but he’s trending the wrong way in 2019, failing to notch a top 10 since Texas in March.

Nick Ottinger (No. 47, JTG Daugherty Racing)

Rank: 8 (–)

Charlotte didn’t go his way, but it’s probably a relief to head to a track where Driver No. 47 has an average finish of 5.5.

Michael Conti (No. 8, JR Motorsports)

Rank: 7 (+2)

With three consecutive finishes 24th or worse, Michael Conti needs a rebound. He finished on the Sonoma podium last year, which makes now the right time to score some points.

Garrett Lowe (No. 28, Team Renegades)

Rank: 6 (-1)

After yet another solid finish, Garrett Lowe has emerged as a legitimate title contender, though he’s still seeking that first win. He’ll get there sooner rather than later.

Bobby Zalenski (No. 18, Joe Gibbs Racing)

Rank: 5 (+5)

The PEAK iRacing Series has raced at Sonoma twice. Bobby Zalenski has won at Sonoma twice. You do the math.

Zack Novak (No. 6, Roush Fenway Racing)

Rank: 4 (-3)

While he may not be the first name that comes to mind for a road-course ringer, Zack Novak won the pole at Sonoma in 2017. He’ll be back with a vengeance after his first DNF of the season at Charlotte.

Ryan Luza (No. 53, FlipSid3 Tactics)

Rank: 3 (–)

Ryan Luza may not be the fastest at turning right, but he’s still Ryan Luza and he still holds a 34-point lead over the field after eight races.

Blake Reynolds (No. 30, Team Dillon Esports)

Rank: 2 (+2)

With a 3.25 average finish over the past two months, things are looking up for Driver No. 30. A quiet day at Sonoma will help solidify his place in the playoffs.

Keegan Leahy (No. 62, G2 Esports)

Rank: 1 (+1)

The name of the game is momentum for Keegan Leahy. After winning Charlotte, he’s put a dent into Ryan Luza’s points lead — and now heads to what Luza’s admitted is his weakest track.
